We got to the parking lot and waited our turn to leave, saw rabbit while waiting.

We left the parking lot in a convoy of about 10, drove to the 17mm and were told by the organizers we were gonna head to the 27mm.

At this point I was thinking I am gonna really get to test the Yukons ability this weekend.

Bluffer & others have told me how the water "changes" gets deeper down there, and it was evident by the change in color and wave action.
Pretty freaking cool.

Some of the kids were still asleep at this point.........uh only for a little bit.
We found some whoop-de-doos, and kids were flying.

Finally we make it down to the 27 and pick up trash, and a few tons of more trash. You could see orange trash bags for miles and miles, from all the work groups. Very cool

Nice to see you out there chuck. I worked with ccbobber on his trailer loading and hauling. I saw a lot of familiar faces out there. Glad the wind and rain held off as long as it did. Saw a Arkansas lisence plate in the partking lot and it was landlocked beach bum or at least the guy said he was.Very Happy

It was impressive, except the front end issues with my truck. I had a horrible thumping noise in my left front in 4wd and had to pull over past the 20 short of the 23 where we were supposed to go but luckily our group kicked butt in both sections and I was able to make it back safely. Now about that front end issue, well I will have to sort that out soon!
Thanks to Snooker Ed, Rodney and Candice, the CCA folks who were cooking. They lost a tent due to the winds and had to move all over the visitor's center to find a place to cook chiili dogs. They did a fantastic job as did Daniel Dain's Dominos. There was good warm food in spite of the driving rain and wind and 55 degree temps there at the end. Very Happy

if you ever want to feel better than when you gave to a church or charity, show up next year and find out how wonderful you can feel having given something of yourself not just some money. tired but satisfied.

My family was in the group with Chuck starting at the 27. That was a fun drive. The sight of all the debre was intimidating but you just reach down grab whatever isn't natural and stick it in the bag, repeat. I don't think we covered the whole mile but what we did cover was near pristine when done. Very Happy Did I mention my wife has a touch of OCD? Anyway it was a great time not to hot, cold or windy until the front hit. That was no fun.

One of these years I'm actually going to meet some of you guys.

I finally got my wife to join me in the cleanup this year after many tries in past years and she did well. She was walking like the Tim Conway old man character afterward but a long session in the hot tub at home relieved some of that soreness.
I chatted with Tyler and Buddy while picking up our riders and we all laughed when Tyler mentioned that my facial double, Charlie Golla, was not able to attend this year. We took on four great folks and they willingly crammed into the back seat of the 150 as we hit the beach in the second group.
The cold front also cut us just short of our mile cleanup goal but we left it in spanking clean condition. Didn't it look SPECTACULAR coming in though?!
Thanks to the folks who fed us back at Malaquite; that had to be the BESTchili dog I ever scarfed down! Thanks to all the sponsors and support staff for helping Billy and his volunteers do their part in keeping the PINS a unique place on this planet

My wife just reminded me that one our four riders, Maureen, Barb, son Josh and Dad (he's a TPW botanist) left a pair of SUNGLASSES in the back seat of my truck. We have no contact info for returning the glasses.
Here's some hints: either Maureen or Barb is an Island resident, has a Jeep that she has taken to the 20 on PINS, has joined the cleanup in past years and is a regular on the PINS turtle patrol. Any help in finding these good folks will be appreciated.

aint that the truth, my kids were talking about all the various forms of trash today.

sorry i did not really meet anybody, but we all sure picked up alot of trash.

I know this will be a family event for years to come.

Mad Dog, I had the white Yukon, and 4 kids, my boy was the one showing off the puffer fish.

Gotch ya! I was driving the white Dodge Ram quad cab. My three girls were the ones trying to dig up that huge pile of rope and netting right by the dried up puffer fish. My wife and I were zig zaggin from water to dunes and back picking up thousands of plastic bottle lids and clear plastic bags. Had to move slowly to see that stuff.

The cameraman from the Parks Service set his camera on my oldest daughter sitting in the sand litterally combing the sand for trash. I wish I could see some of his documentary.

Chuck, Mad Dog and Salty Cuda and their friends and family were awesome! I was the section leader for their group and they all got after it. Chuck, I hope your boys kept that puffer fish. To find one like that on the beach in that condition is very rare! Mad Dog, your family gets the award for determination. I think if I had not come over and said something yall would have dug to China trying to get all that rope out!! And Salty Cuda, tell your boy he needs to put a shirt on if he's going to be running around in the cold rain and wind!! Ha! Thanks again for all yalls help and I hope to see you next year! Jeff
