I have purchased marine ply from Allen & Allen in San Antonio. They carry 1/2 & 3/4. Their's is only good for deck coring not boat building. They sell Georgia Pacific 5 ply. I got my rebuild supplies from them because I got a preferred price discount.

Try here http://plywood.boatbuildercentral.com/index.php for really good boat building grade wood. BBC has the best selection of thickness and plys. Their prices including shipping are better than most local suppliers.

as far as "marine" grade plywood probably Brock's Lumber or whatever they are called now.

if you want "treated" plywood (which is not as good and cheaper) than most lumberyards (mccoys, mg & zarsky) should have that in stock

if you don't want to go to Brocks' then you could probably order some form the other lumberyards, your only problem may be having to order a minimum quantity.

good luck

poling skiff- like the FS18 but wider and all deck, --I have been to BBC quite a bit, very nice stuff but would rather save the $200+ on shipping and be able to see the material first.
With BBC I believe the shipping is included when you buy their kits, not for only plywood orders.
I was just trying to find a local dealer or a local builder who could add to their next order.

Apparently 'treated wood' may react with the resin and runs the risk of de-laminating.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Talk to Cesar at Mosca avoid the wood and see if he will sell you some of the stuff he uses. They use the same stuff in elevators and airplanes, very light and once you add the glass becomes very strong.

Hey Man, if you are interested in saving weight and having a totally waterproof laminate, check out Nidcore.
http://nida-core.com/english/
Some will tell you that the weight savings are nill on smaller builds, but that's all up to you and how well you make the laminates/sandwich.

You can take any core material and coat it with a THIN skin on both sides to make a very stiff building structure to replace any plywood. Then just add the laminate as you go.

I'm building my boat, the Phantom, using Hydrotek. It cost me 180.00 in shipping from Florida. After looking all over So. Tx., I found it and all types of Marine plywood at Houston Hardwoods. 713-686-6176
Hydrotek/Meranti 1088 1/4..39.00 3/8..60.00 1/2..79.00

Here is a link to my build. I'm about half way through although I have but it on hold for a while...let me know if I can help in any way. Don
