The fact is that there are already "family safe" beaches for those who desire a "pedestrian friendly" beach experience.

the fact is.....this is only the FIRST developer that will want a vehicle free beach.....I'm afraid of incrementalism (sp) when others want to do the same thing, and the next thing you know, there goes the rest of the beach.

I agree that this will set a dangerous precedent if allowed to happen.

The new North Padre Island Economic Development Report came out.

The average wage will be really low. They assume over $600 million will be paid over 16 years, to over 2200 direct and indirect employees.

Its actually an average wage of only $17,366 used here.

When you back inflation costs out, it is actually only $12,750 if you assume 4% yearly inflation (historically the average is 4.5%).

Try paying rent, a car note for something dependable enough to drive over the bridge and back everyday, utilities and food with only $1000 a month.

Rent $600
Car $200
Gas $200

Oops, out of money. Guess no one needs electricty, water, phone or food.

But the bottom line is that the city will make of $500 million in taxes net over the next 15 years! Woo - hoo! City council can pass themselves a huge pay raise!

What a bunch of a-holes!

Why doesn't someone or some group who is oppossing all this make something like that? Something that can be put up on the web, easily printed out by all of us, and can be stacked on counters of business' who want to keep our beaches or handed out by people like us? Of coarse it would have to be done by a person or people that have extensive knowledge about all of this. I would do it, but I don't have anywhere near the knowledge to do it. I do have a website and I will put it up. I actually have several TX based websites that I can put it on.

Big John, the sad thing is those jobs may not have pay increases to keep up with the CPI. As a result employees loose purchasing power without even realizing it. Rely on turnover of employees to keep costs low for those service jobs. The dollar savings gets plowed back into company so they can buy more property or diversify assets into other operations. Hope that doesn't occur.

Let's get back to fishing.

Talk about a smoke screen. Had to turn the fan on so I could finish reading the paper. If they win the election then schnexy will go back to austin laughing all the way to the bank and tell the people there how gullible the corpus christians are. Mad
