been planning a Y-pass trip for a while now..
4-5 truck loads going down.. well.. down to me and the mrs and a rescue vehicle.
left the house around 10am.. had to drop my dog off at my dads because of the dog ban and a couple from NY that we were going to meet up with got the boot and heading to south padre..

get to the island around 230 bs at a buds for a while hit the table top around 4pm. stuck at 430pm 300 yards from where we planned to camp.

need to give props to ranger tyler and bill i think that was there name.. they decided to come check on us while my buddy was enroute to pull us out.. yup they were speeding but got a warning.. and we were warned not to drink and drive on the island.. told him had too beers since 5pm diggin the frame out of water..
found out that the park rangers have been tearing up the spot that we got stuck in because they have been close to getting stuck there.. well i thought i was in 4 low.. wrong 4 high and well that dont work to good when you need all 4 tires spinning to get you through some gunk..

water still running out of the drivers side of truck.

started a fire for the mrs where we were to set up camp so she could stay warm.. should have set out the poles for her but she was manning the phone for rescue..

that night after mark and richard show up.. we manage to fill up a 125 qt ice chest with black drum and about 6 reds.. 2 were tag just at 29 inches..
nice filets. lots of fish..
oh last buddy finally showed up at 1230am.. he drove his camry all the way up to the 15 mm..
cooked up breakfast and headed back to the island for some rest and good grub..
came back out about 11pm.. not as productive on saturday night only 5 black drum.. and 2 break offs.

***** if you go to y-pass watch out at the end.. hopefully they have graded the road back there before it opens up.. because the grass to the right has some good ruts in it.. couple of guys came in after us and lit it up to get throuhgh the sand road and the grass area.. come on.. it is not that bad.. just be in 4low and not high like i was Mad Surprised Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

sunday nothing on the surf other than a few whiting and a ton of skeeters at sunset..
again another great meal at my buds home..

was planning on hitting a couple places monday morning before heading back home. but well.. truck sitting in sandy mushy water for 4-5 hours.. the starter died.. full of watery sand.. finally got it replaced late monday.. so stay another night why not.. stuffed/wrapped dove, great sausage and chicken grilled up.. man what a way to finish a ruined fishing day. oh.. did get out to packery and let the mrs catch a couple of grunts.

and to top it off.. stuck like of joke friday.. monday starter is shot.. batteries finally give out at the stripes while we get coffee and tacos..

thanks Tarzan for running me around monday and tuesday bro..

well other than having to detail the truck.. guess 2005 dodge original starter and batteries being soaked and up and down the beach for the past 4 years.. not bad.. but all at once..
better than being at the mansfield jetties and batteries go out.. Rolling Eyes

all in all. was a good fishing adventure.. Cool

now I know what Rabbit feels like when he was back in packery flats.. drive and area so often, even walk it, not a problem.. but when we get stuck, we get stuck Shocked

Geez Louise Snake, let the rest of us know when you're coming down next time, would love to film your adventures as you try to come through. you could have your own saturday morning cartoon show!

BTW, saw the grader going in YB on monday, you were a couple days early on your backside assault.

well now i know what it takes to get stuck.. told the mrs, not going to get my new wet saw and table saw.. going to get oversized tires.. she still does not agree, just thinks that maybe y-pass off til less rain and high tides back there.
all is good and fun.

Wow...I've never had any problems at the Y except the entrance through the dunes. I've been wanting to get back out there lately...maybe I'll reconsider.

A section of the Yarbough pass has been relocated to my driveway and rain gutter in front of my place. That stuff is HARD to wash off.
