I was asked to sign a petition today in an effort to save the Coliseum? I really do not understand why we should keep it with the new American Bank Center in place. Your thoughts?

I believe that the argument against destroying the Coliseum is that it is a War Memorial and it show great disrespect for the soldiers that it was dedicated to if that makes any sense to you. Personally, I say level the building and save the plaque. I mean, good God I saw the Plasmatics in concert there in the late 1980's. You can't get much more disrespectful than that.
later,
Ernie

it is my understanding that to save it with updates would cost more than new and you stillhave a unused building being supported by our tax dollars. far better to rededicate the plaque in a parklike setting for our vets.

I understand the meaning behind somethings but seriously the coliseum is run down. I say "remodel" it into something new and exciting and just name it the memorial coliseum. Wouldn't that make everybody happy! lol

Seems pretty disrespectful to have let it get to it's current state! to both the Vets and the tax payers, city leaders will never agree on any option so take the plaque to the park down the street where the Vets gather and make it something special!

Then tear the eye sore down!

Absolutely no dis-respect towards any of our military folks past or present entended. You are always on my mind and with my utmost gratitude!

I proposed a while back that the Hockey Team should go public with the owners keeping a majority of the stock. Sell shares buy and renovate the building. By selling shares you would get a built in fan base as they would want to see their investment in action. All you have to do is look at Green Bay. The Packers are a public corporation owned by the fans. Looks like a smooth operation up there.

TEAR IT DOWN. The land there is valuble and could be used for s park or something that could bring the city big income.

Tear it down and remove the parking lot around it, then plant it over with grass and trees, put in some picnic tables and benches and keep it like this, an aestheticly pleasing park, until such time as resources are available to develop it into something. A memorial should be well kept and dignified at all times, regardless if it is a building or green space.

I'd also go so far as to make it an ordinance that all in-town undeveloped properties need to be maintained as green space until they are developed...or perhaps its just a matter of enforcing existing ordinances in this case.
