| i often read the posts here, but can't ever seem to find any fishing reports. most of the reports have to do with politics. sure that info is important, but you don't want to sort thru it when you're trying to find out what the fishing's like. maybe a separate board/section for that??? |

| I think all of that will die down after November 7th. I too would rather read more reports but beach access IS a fishing issue for a lot of us so please hang on a couple of more weeks. Then afterwards we will see how it goes about creating a separate forum. The only political topics you see here are related to fish limits, fishing seasons and beach access. |

Tyler, I agree I'd rather post and read fishing reports than keep spreading the latest on the beach closing moves, but this IS a fishing-related topic and so popular I'm suspicious anyone would make opposing the topic the subject of his first post. That and the lack of personal info make redfish1000 fair game for this suspicion he's either trying to attact attention or a Beach Blocker in disguise.
What to do, ignore him or crucify him? _________________ The Trash Heap Has Spoken!

This site isn't suffering from it yet, but if traffic and posts pick up his suggestion will be needed. I have a truck website that shows 100 topics per board per view. In the open discussion board alone a post will not stay on the first page if nobody replies to it after a day. The site has a ton of different boards for each specific category. If there was only 1 single board for people to post to, a topic wouldn't last but a few hours on the first page.
I am sure his request was innocent. He is just requesting what the norm is with most sites. _________________ http://lagunafishing.com - GPS Map/Satellite Imagery of fishing spots in the Laguna Madre

Not a problem in my book. I consider the Packery issue fishing related. This board stays on topic very well.
I frequent gulfsurfer.com as well and off topic posts have become such a problem that readership has dropped drastically. The upper coast section has become a freak show of radical left/right politics and bizarre nonsense. I pretty much post only on the central coast section where the Packery issue has dominated for the past few months.
I think Tyler's right. It should settle after the election. If it doesnt then something went south and boards like these are the perfect forum for getting the word out and discussion. _________________ "If you love something let it go. If it comes back to you gaff it and throw it on ice."

Johnny,
If it was not for the constant information you provide us with in this forum, I never would have known that my right to drive on the beach and chase schooling fish was being taken away from me. I have not posted anything lately because I have been out collecting signatures and talking to my state rep and senator. I have given them over three hundred signatures of constituents wanting the beach to stay open for vehicles. All the sigs were of coastal fishermen. This is out of Laredo, TX only. I know I can't vote in CC, but it's what little help I can provide. Copies of these signatures went to Sen Zaffirini and Rep. Henry Cuellar along with copies sent to Patterson and Suydam.

That's fantastic, gathering and sending signatures shows exactly the kind of grass-roots support needed to strengthen the letter and intent of the Texas Open Beaches Act. If only one person like you from every town in Texas sent just one letter with a single signature to the writer's respective legislative reps and cced the GLO, it would be a coup. If they each sent in 300 signatures, this would immediately trigger legislation, similar to that passed in the backlash against the misuse of imminent domain, to nip in the bud the practice of letting local governments evict all Texans' vehicles from beaches to increase their local tax bases. _________________ The Trash Heap Has Spoken!

IVE ALWAYS SAID THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A STATE WIDE ISSUE, CAUSE EVERY BODY USES THE BEACH. NOT JUST PEOPLE FROM CORPUS. AND IM NOT THINKING NEGATIVE. WE WILL WIN THIS BECAUSE THE FORCES OF GOOD ALWAYS BEAT THE FORCES OF EVIL.

Have a quick look just north and south of us on the coast (galveston, SPI) and you'll see that good does not always overcome the evil. This is why its so important to get the word out rather than just relying on "thing's to work themselves out". This is not meant to sound pessimistic, only realistic. If we don't make the effort to let people know what's really happening they might actually believe half the crap being said, published, etc. and vote the way of the money mongers. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank many on this board for keeping this issue at the fore front. Johnny French is of course the name that comes to mind, but thanks to all those others who have done the part in trying to assure OUR access to OUR beaches. Thanks guys and continue to fight the good fight. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

WE ARE THE GOOD AND IF WE ALL GO AND LET THE PEOPLE KNOW THE REAL LOW DOWN AND WE ALL GO OUT AND VOTE I BELIEVE THERE ARE ENOUGH PEOPLE. IF EVERYONE THAT SIGNED THE PETITION VOTED IT WOULD BE AN EASY WIN. I SEE THE BILBOARD AS I AM LEAVING BASE TO GET ON SPID. THAT SAYS "ITS FOR THE JOBS". WHAT A JOKE, I DID THAT TYPE OF WORK FOR ABOUT 16 YEARS AND BELIEVE ME YOU DONT MAKE GOOD MONEY. ONLY UPPER MANAGEMENT, AND THEY BRING IN THEIR OWN PEOPLE OR HIRE EX-COUNCILMEMBERS AS RETURN FAVORS. I BELIEVE THE FISHING COMMUNITY AND THE BEACH GOERS CAN WIN THIS ONE. AND WHEN CITY ELECTIONS COME AROUND. JOHHNY, JUST SO YOU KNOW IM WRITTING YOUR NAME IN. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR INFO MAN. YOU HAVE DONE A GOOD THING TO INFORM US ALL OF WHAT IS GOING ON.
