One time at band camp.......
But, seriously; a buddy convinced me to go even I knew it was cold as hell and the wind was blowing 35 plus. We decided to fish the Oso bridge between TAMU-CC and NAS. You had to actually cast over the bridge into the wind to get your bait close to the bridge. You literally were throwing over cars and the wind would blow your bait back about 20 ft. Caught 4 keeper drum on live shrimp with the head torn off. Never did it again, but there's your first winter fishing story.
One time at a football game it was so cold a trumpet players tongue got stuck to his mouthpiece. SM _________________ That's why they call it fishin' not catchin' |

| Every year the day after Christmas my brother in law and I drive in from San Antonio and fish with a friend who lives in one of the canal houses behind the whataburger on the island. We do better the colder it is. We stay within a 4 mile radius and catch more fish than probably what I do all year. I love your backyard fishing. Come on Christmas!!! |

| Well, one can certainly stand in 45° water for nine hours waiting for that single, memorable bite - I've done it more than once. But this year, I'm going to try a different tact - fly fishing the deep channels and holes with sinking line and large 4/0 - 5/0 streamers. Of course, I plan to do this at night to reduce the howling laughter and raspberries from passing boats. I'll get back to you if this works. |
