Well it's almost offical, over the past 4 weeks Len and I have been fishing both Corkey's and Catch 2000 for the winter trout we've been catching.
Belive me we have used both styles and caught some real nice trout on both lures. But in the past 4 weeks the Catch 2000 (20MR18) has consistatly caught more and bigger trout. There were some days that was
the only bait they would eat. We used both baits the the same amount of time, each one of us would throw the opposite bait as the other.
The score was 6 trout over 27" on a Corkey and 9 trout over 27" on a Catch 2000. We did catch a good number of fish on both lures that were
15" to 25". The three biggest were 30" fish 2 were caught on a Catch 2000
and 1 on a Corkey.
Thought maybe some of you might be interested.

THAT'S GOOD TO KNOW B/C CORKYS ARE SO HARD TO FIND AND BORING TO FISH. I WON'T HAVE TO MAKE A TRIP TO MEMBERS DRIVE TO GET MORE, BY THE WAY I HAVE ONLY CAUGHT ONE FISH ON A CORKY NAD IT WAS 16 INCHER

I have used the catch 2000 many times with good results I like it best when I work it extremely fast on warmer days of course. Its fun to watch the trout bolt after it like lightening for a smashing hookup. Don't get me wrong it works very well when retrieved at slower speeds too. Its just fun when jerking it across the top of the grass in a machine gun style, bap, bap, bap, bap, bap, bap, motion. If you follow what I mean.

Good Stuff Mike! The B&L Corky is getting harder and harder to get, and more expensive. This Corky craze is getting worse every year. I can't count the number of clients who insisted on fishing a Corky over any other lure regardless of situation. Unfortunately, most inexperienced lure fishermen have a real tough time getting bit on the Corky. It's not automatic, and I believe it takes time and confidence to make it all come together with this "sexy" lure. Maybe we a giving the fish far too much credit. We need to remember fish are cold blooded, pea brain creatures who instictively eat aything resembling a baitfish or food. If the right lure is worked properly in front of a fish....THUMP. But....when we must make them eat our lure, it's a different ball-game.

Depends on what the water looks like for me. Last Winter and Spring, I fished the Catch V more than the Corky. I prefer the Catch V when fishing stained or muddy water. Last Winter the Brown Tide hung around, and when I need a loud flashy bait, I go with the Catch V. Both are excellent choices for big mullet imitations. I've been fishing the Corky this year with good results, and have not used the Catch V at all.

Last June I caught a 30" trout on a Catch V. The flat I was fishing had chocolate milk colored water and the wind was cranking. I knew the fish were on that flat, and in that situation the Catch V paid off. I cast it way out, let in sink for a couple seconds and starting working it hard and fast. Second cast I got whacked! This particular fish fought harder than any trout I had ever caught, or have to this day.

Again, I believe each lure has a place and time where it is best utilzed. Sometimes the only bite you get is slow rolling a bass asassian just above the grass. Maybe the only lure applicable is a Corky floater in 6" of gin clear water. I think if your looking for numbers a plastic will produce more fish overall, and at times, the only fish. The Corky is an awesome bait, and I have confidence in it. I've caught more big trout on a Corky than any other bait. If the water and fish are cold....I'm chunking a Corky for one big bite!

Captn Mike,have you tried rigging the Catch 2000 with single hooks yet ?was just wondering if both hooks would take a 1/0 or 2/0 .on my spook juniors and corkys,im using 1/0 on both sets.just curious,thanks.
