I am so excited. I picked up a Shakespeare President II 1984 today at a pawn shop. I have never seen one before and after a good cleaning it feels like a great reel. I like the size, larger than a normal ambasador, just smaller than my calcutta 400.

I have always loved old shimano's. I realy like the bantams from the early 80's. Small reels but great casters. I also like a glass fly rod. I have a great Fenwick 8/9 that I use for reds when I get the chance.

I would like to hear from some others on the board about old equipment that you like. I ran across some old Diawa big spin reels today but did not buy them. I don't know what I am looking for when it comes to Diawa. Add a story if you like about how you came to like it.

My first bantam was given to me by my wife on my birthday. We were dating at the time and its the first thing she ever gave me. I still fish it for bass. Its the all aluminumn model, somewhat rare.

I also luv old fishing equipment especially my bantoms. I have a couple of the black magnum 100GT's that I still use. The exterior adjustment on the magnetic cast controll is a feature I'd like to see on newer reels. Another is the Daiwa Procaster with graphite bearings & externtal magnetic cast control, great little reel.

Here's a story for ya, bass fishing this morning using my bantom magnumlite 2000 I caught a 5 lb. channel cat while throwing a 1/4 oz. spinnerbait, gotta luv it.

I don't have much of my old tackle anymore. I had several Ambassador 5000, 5500, 6000 from the seventies. All I have now is a non-operational 6000. I do still have a collection of old wooden bass plugs that were Dad's circa 1950's-60's by Heddon and I think some old Fred Arbogast. Pretty cool old plugs. I still have some old Hump, Bingo, and Mirrolures too.

If I could find one old thing from the past..... it would be a Diawa 2 pc glass/graphite 8' baitcasting rod. I bought one in the early eighties and I used it up until 2 years ago when just splintered on me. That was the best bay rod I ever used. It had plenty of backbone yet a soft tip for casting a mile. And the 8' 2pc construction gave you a rod that could be packed and was great for wading.
