This is the first live one that I have seen. Usually they are dead and just a blue blob on the sand.

I saw quite few of those at Fish Pass on Sunday. All were in the water and a few were big. _________________ Catch, Release, Catch, Release |

They would be really cool in an aquarium! Ever since I saw the jellyfish exibit in Galveston, I've wanted a species tank for them alone. They really look cool under actinic lighting................Kyle _________________ I fish, therefore, I am................Happy! |

How deep would the tank have to be? _________________ Fishing and Kayaking its a rough life but somebody has to do it.

Rabbit, I haven't actually seen a Portugese Manowar tank, but I've seen some really cool Jellyfish tanks that were about 4' deep. I don't know how long the tentacles are on a Portugese manowar, so I can't tell you how deep it needs be. But I would say 3-4' deep and about 200gals+. A round tank, or bowed, would look the coolest, I would think. For a P.manowar tank you might have to have a series of fans on top to blow them around the tank, but once again, I don't know what a P.war needs for survival, or how long they live and if they can even be kept alive in a tank. I'm sure they require special needs, but I don't know what they are. I forgot the species of jellyfish and manowar I've seen in captivity, but they were awesome. I've been in the reeftank hobby for 4-5 years, but really only the last two that I did any research and dove in deeper than I can swim(my wallet, that is ). Before that it was...catch saltwater fish, put them in the tank and see who survives. I always said..." it's the survival of the fittest in the Kcon sea, LOL! Not anymore though, I'm neck deep these days, in all kinds of coral in my 150gal tank. Here's my tank site. http://yankee2003.bizland.com/kconsaquarium/ The site is far from done, but there are some older pics. I'ts much nicer now though, except for a bit too much cyanobacteria, but that's because my tank isn't at my house anymore, at least, not for now, but it will be soon. As you can see, my tank is in the wall. When I get my next house there will be a room in the middle of the house with a tank in all 4 walls facing 4 different rooms. CC has a nica aquarium, but Moody Gardens in Galveston goes a bit farther. My favorite is probably the one in Nea'alins, but I still can't remember where the really cool Jelly tank was. They all have them, but some are better. Mighta been SA, or somewhere else for that mattor. One day, I'll be posting Port. Manowar pics and fishing in my living room(not that the fishing hasen't happened allready, LOL!) . Y'all will be the first to see my jelly tank......................Kyle _________________ I fish, therefore, I am................Happy! |

Wow pretty nice looking tank you have there. I like saltwater tanks better than freshwater. Saltwater tanks seem to have more color and the fish colors are brighter. _________________ Fishing and Kayaking its a rough life but somebody has to do it.

I have 7-8 fish, but I also have 30-40 corals. The fish are only there to fertilize the water for the corals. Fish are easy, corals ARE the tank. They are also far too expensive for me to take care of both them, and my wife, ....I'm gonna miss my wife ..............Kyle _________________ I fish, therefore, I am................Happy! |
