|

Hey guys I am new to the site, but have been reading regularly for the last few months. Just wanted to say thanks for all the great reports and info. I did have 1 question for you guys as I no longer live in Corpus and now reside in San Antonio I try to plan trips to be productive, just like everyone else. I was wondering when a good time to do some Black Drum fishing would be. I really want to catch some this year as I have yet to catch a BIG ONE and really want to fight a few this year at Indian Point. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks |

| it depends on what you want to catch bull black drum or keeper black drum. the keepers are best caught in copano bay unless you have a boat to fish ccbay. indian point cosway and oso piers are hotspots from about january till maybe march for the big ones in the 40 and 50 range |

| oh yeah and for a few weeks toward the end of january and the beginning of feb i think you can catch the big ones all day and then after that they are best caught at night. i fish on indian point so i will tell you where the sweet spot is at if you can get into it because it is always jam packed. the end of the t on the right side in the left corner(bay side) its a good cast out at least 30-40 yards. the big drum hang around there i know they are caught at cosway on the pier to the right and at the corner of the pier into the channel. use mantis shrimp (sea lice), small blue crabs, big blue crab claws. those baits work best. |
