Drove to to ingleside with the family looking at houses Sunday. We didn't even get to the island when I was noticing how beautiful the water was going over the JFK. Had to figure a way to cut this trip short. We arrived in inglside checked out a couple of houses on my wifes list then decided to put my plan into action. I called a realtor with my wife near by and he proceeded to tell me that if I would drop by this week he would furnish me with a list of houses and a map, "WOW" (i said) "I can't pass up an offer like that. I'll be back next week" I told him. My wife said "you're so smart, that will save us alot of time when we come back." (I'm feeling pretty low by this point) But, look at the pic below, I cheered up real quick like. lmao Was a beautiful afternoon and she had homework due that evening anyhow. (There, that justified it pretty good)

| Yeah, every time I go over the JFK I am amazed at how beautiful the water is. I would not be surprised if a few juvenile snook and tarpon are caught in the area this year. |

Old Salt,
You read my mind. The water is looking better and better all the time, and I wouldn't be surprised if some big snook and tarpon are taken this summer off the JFK area piers, as adult fish find their way back into the ICW through the reopened channel.
The last time I got to fish one of those piers (several months ago now), I cast netted some very large croaker. Put one about 7 inches long out on one of my redfish surf rigs, with 4 foot of leash, and a 13-0 circle hook through the back to soak, hoping for that elusive 30" trout at 1am to hit.
Two idiots who have no pier edicate come walking up and stand on either side of me and start casting troutkillas. No farther than 2 foot from me on either side.
Well, I got a massive hit, and wouldn't you know it, both of them had tangled up around my line.
It wasn't no 30 inch trout! It was ripping drag off my line and both of the tangled guys lines, like no tomorrow!
Well both of them tighten down their drags just long enough to stop their lines. Then I get a big bow in my line. Its running back towards the pier. Before I could get caught up, one of their lines was rapped around the tip of my pole. Im yelling "Cut it, cut it you ^*%&6 *%*%* **% 7(*&&%^" They wouldn't do it! Didn't want to loose their tackle!
Lost the fish. Now I am ready to throw them both into the laguana. So I just sat my pole down, and grabbed my knife. cut the one line tangled around my pole, reeled in while he bitched, and when I got to the other's line, cut it too. Both of them are yelling. I yelled back SHUT THE *&^% UP! YOU 8576HEADS JUST COST ME THE GO5867M FISH OF A LIFETIME YOU 6987754 95877675 874896596 84746!" DON'T YOU KNOW ANY BETTER THAN TO STAND RIGHT UP AGAINST SOMEONE? YOU'RE LUCKY ALL I DID WAS CUT YOU LINES, NOW GET THE 95687 OUTTA HERE."
I know that was a tarpon, even though it never jumped. Didn't fight like a shark at all. I have only lost my temper like that twice that I can remember, the other time is another story.... I am really a peaceful guy. But sometimes people cross the line.
My point being,. I thinkl there are already a few big boys back there, and I bet we start seeing a gradual increase in the tarpon and snook populations in the next few years. Just be careful cast netting bait, we all gotta make sure we release those little ones so we can catch them later! _________________ Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
