I showed up around 3:00 to find the wind howling. I set out two rods loaded with cracked crab. I got a few runs but couldn't get hooked up. About 6:00 I finally get one to stick. This 48" big ugly mofo.

Then at 6:45 I hook up to this 40" big ugly

Then the trout started to pop. I ended up with 4 keepers to 17.5" I caught lots of dinks. Trout were caught on corkys and a new Mirror lure. I belive it's a mud minno look a like not sure of the model number.

Nice report. Looks like fun. What do you mean by cracked crab? How do you catch or crabs for bait?

1. To catch crabs I use chicken legs tied to a rope. Toss them off a dock or sea wall, then let them sit for a few min. Then just pull them up slowly. You'll know by the weight at the end if you have a crab or not. If so use a dip net and net'em up.

2. Use. I will eight pull the top shell totally off and cut the lower part in two. or use the whole crab and just pop open the other side enough to let a little sent out( this method is what I used on those drum) Using either method I'll pull the second from the bottom leg off and thread a 13/0 circle to the middle of the crab. Just find a spot on the crab that the hook will stay in place and not slip off. You have to be carful not to crush the shell with the hook. If so it can slip off.

This may be the wrong way to do it. It's just the way I do it.
Hope that helps

Todd

That is one of the biggest big uglies I have ever seen! Awesome! And that one is so pretty it could be a grass carp!
