How's it going?

Been awhile since I was on the net but work has had me bowed up like a 3 legged cat trying to bury s#@t on a frozen pond! My question is this: any of you ever fished Port Lavaca (spelling? Confused ) and if so, where and for what? Going that way in a few weeks and wanted to try and wet a line. Appreciate it . . . hope ya'll have a good time at the beach clean up this weekend -- I have a damn work seminar to go to. That really sucks!! Evil or Very Mad

depends on how you are planning to fish... wading, powerboat, or kayaking.

There are several spots for yakkers in the area from POC's Boggy Bayou, to Charlie's Bait Camp (near Seadrift) for Shoalwater & the Lagoon. The Lavaca (maybe Calhoun County) Paddle trail is thru a series of lakes from Alamo Beach to Indianola. Powderhorn Lake is awesome at Indianola. Keller & Cox Bays near Olivia and then up to Palacios there is Turtle Bay and Carancaha Bay. Further North is Matagorda and East Mattie Bay. All of these spots would be for kayaking.

Powerboating ..... just go to Charlie's (near Seadrift) and work the lower end of ESB (Espirto Santo Bay) or head to POC and fish the upper end of ESB and Matagorda bay.

Wading ... most of the kayaking spots except for Charlies. Beware of muddy bottoms in this bay system if you wade. They can get real deep & real soft real quick.

Some areas of Lavaca Bay have Fish Consumption Bans.

Here is the link to TP&W fish consumption bans

Basically, don't eat fish near any of chemical plants which are on Lavaca Bay just across the causeway from Port Lavaca. Same thing at the plants on the Victoria Barge Canal.
