If I were asked to manufacture a day for kayak fishing it would have been Saturday. I can't recall enjoying a day on the water as much as I did this one. It wasn't a day when the fish were in abundance but it was a day when you had to put your skills to the test to find them. I explored more of the Kate's hole area than I have ever had the opportunity to. The water was very very clear and the wind stayed steady at about 5 from the SW. Perfect for drifting and work on your casting and retrievels. I have had alot of good fishing there from live bait, dead bait, plastics, spoons (silver), top waters.
Well I caught only a few fish Saturday but it just happened to be the day I ended up with my personal best trout and had a 25+" red brake off my favorite silver spoon. Well, nothing picks your day back up so quick from losing your favorite lure and losing another perfect red than catching a 28" trout. Below is pic of the trout. I honestly did try and revive the trout for release but he was just too weak.

Thats nice, a 28 is awesome!...My best is still a 26 & that was from a boat in the Meadows near Baffin. (no guide though)....catching a trout that size is rare. _________________ Fish hard, fish the Bluff. Surrounded by water!

CC,
Nice trout! We also had a good day last weekend with six trout between 20"-27" and all caught on plastic. At one time my partner and I doubled up and netted two fish at once a 27" & 24" sow trout. Later...

Great report and photo. A trout like that will keep you on the water looking for her sister.
Did you catch her on plastics or another spoon?
