Looking for advice on where to stay when I plan a surf fishing trip to Corpus. I don't want anything fancy; just a clean room with a hot shower and a comfortable bed. I'd like a ground floor room so I can easily bring my gear in at night. I will probably have around 6 surf rigs that I will not want to leave in the truck unattended. Been ripped off one to many times.
Proximity to the fishing grounds should be no more than an hour drive. Please give me websites, phone numbers and any information you think might help.
Thanks,

Where do you plan on fishing at?
PINS
Port a?
Its a good stretch between the 2.
Shark Reef is a decent place, not fancy but no complaints here. Kind of the motel 6 catagory. They're a few good motels off Corn Products rd. that are like 30$ a night, mainly cater to truckers. Not bad places, not the best- basically motel6 stuff. They are about 30 minutes from PINS. Speaking of motel 6, there is a new one in that same area, prolly find it on their website. Stay away from Leopord addresses and Agnes adresses |

motel 6 on SPID at Rodd field, or close to it. Cheap, 10 minutes from the island, 20 to the sand on PINS. _________________ Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.

Not exactly sure when I'll be making the trip. Depends on when my job goes back to a regular schedule. I've been working 7/12s since Hurricane Rita trying to get a refinery back up and running. Told my wife I'm gonna need a serious dose of sand when this job is over.
Thanks for the information,

If you're fishing Pins or anywhere near, check out the Passport Inn on the island. About 50.00 a night and is exactly what you're lookin for. _________________ 27*24'56.88N 97*18'06.79W |

Tex,
I can't get a good nights sleep in the Corpus Motel 6's worrying about my gear. Plus they are owned by the French.
The LaQuinta on SPID is more but not outrageous during the off-season and they have a security guard. Seems like the options on the island might be safe bets also. |
