|
|
I am updating the reports and could use some info for the Laguna, Baffin, Port A area, jetties etc, in addition to Corpus Christi Bay, Nueces and the Aransas Rockport Areas. Please post up with any general information if you have fished these areas recently. I obviously don't need exact locations just a general strategy to help folks find their own fish. The Gollas must be on vacation or I would have complete reports for all of these areas!
Thanks!

Tyler, we are still catching fish in the Laguna from Pita Island to the south end of Emmords on piggy's. Fishing 3 to 4 ft of water in the sand holes.
Best bites have been on the west (King Ranch) side of the Laguna. There have been some good schools of redfish just west of Pita on the flats but you better get ther early before the boats pressure them too much. I haven't had any artifical charters so I can't tell you what's working with the plastic. Haven't needed to go to Baffin so I can't tell you what is going on down there. Plenty of fish on the north end been getting done by 10:00
Hope this helps

I suspected as much as it has been that way for about the last month or so. I have been saying that on the Friday morning reports and wanted to just make sure so Lago does not think I am a broken record. Thanks for the update.
By the way, for those of you who don't know Mike is Captain Mike Singleterry. Here is his site address.

Fished the Port A channel over by the ferry boats last Saturday night/Sunday morning and caught nothing but little tiny whiting and huge hardheads. Oh well, you win some and lose some. _________________ Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.

| Had some friends catch lots of trout on the south side of mud island earlier in the week. I fished about a week ago and while getting skunked, there was lot's of bait in the water. |

Its been three weeks or so but plum and chartruese was the main color in late July. I had good luck on the IC near the JKF and back south close to nighthawk bay. I had one day with a strike every other cast on that color combo and nothing on anything else.
I'm just not a live bait guy. I'd rather catch dinks on plastic. _________________ Catch, Release, Catch, Release |

Been doing the night fishing thing here in Baffin lately. The fishing has been good but not spectacular with trout up to 25". Topwaters are working great at night and I've had my best luck with red/white Super Spook Jr.'s and pearl Skitterwalks. Slow steady walk-the-dog retrieve seems to drive them nuts (about 2 minutes per retrieve). I'll try to get you a little more thorough report by Monday. I've kinda got my days and nights mixed up right now. Later, Aubrey

Baffin has been very good for reds on flies. We are catching our limits by 9am, but have continued to see and catch reds up until late afternoon. Water we are fishing runs about 6" - 10" and we are seeing lots of good fish. Dad caught a 28" on a 5wt which gave him a run for his money. Using Kwans, clousers, and shrimp and crab patterns. Good Luck. |

Kayaked south nighthawk at sunrise sat from birdisland to the dunes, then went to edge of ICW from there and tried both sides. Nothing but 2 keeper sized trout. Had live perch and threw gold spoon in between.
Tide was way up. _________________ Fish hard, fish the Bluff. Surrounded by water!
