I use shock leaders on my bait casting reels, but, was wondering if they work OK on a spinning reel. I'm concerned that the line will hang on the knot where the leader and main line join. Any suggestions/advice will be greatly appreciated. I would prefer to be safe with heaving 3 to 5 oz of lead!

A shock leader will work fine on your spinning reel just make sure you tie a small knot and trim the tag ends off as close as possible.
When reeling in I manually guide the knot towards the front lip of the spool to decrease the chance of line catching on the knot.
I personally prefer to use tapered shock leaders which allow for an even smaller knot. |

| Thanks - I was really concerned about the line hanging on the knot and breaking off the rig |
