Twizdedrods, his wife Jenn, Phil, and I set out to fish the Arctic front that blow in earlier in the week. Our goal was to run down to the Mansfield jetty's, but due to the rough driving and high tide, we stopped short of our destination. While looking for a spot to camp, We came across a deep wade gut, which is what we needed seeing that the surf was a little rough for yakking the baits out.
We set up about the 25mm
Wasting no time in the frigid (O. K...Freaking Cold) weather, we had a fire going in no time and Phil started the day off with double hook-up.
The weekend was off to a good start!
Shortly after Phil's double, I bring in this big ugly
Than another.
Then Phil takes a shot at a red
and to rub it in, Phil hooks up with another!
Was Phil done? Heck no!
and
Finally Phil lets somebody else catch a fish, I bring in another ugly
Then Twizdedrods decides to join in on the fun
Then we go back to Phil...again.
That was the end of Saturday, We had shark rods out, fresh black drum, horse mullet, and stingray out for bait. My 6/0 went off early in the evening taking my glow stick towards the surf, but no hook up.
Sunday morning rolls around, I wake up late as usual to find Twizded tearing up the fish. He had several in the box already, but I managed to take pics of the rest of the catches that afternoon. Sunday was Twizdedrods' day!
Twizded with a red
Then an ugly
then a red
ugly
another ugly
Twizded hooked up
another ugly
Then Twizded goes back to a red
He did let me manage to catch one fish Sunday
Me with an ugly
We ended our trip with that one and headed home with another successful meat haul off the beach. We ate like kings Saturday night. Two grills going, one with fajitas and the other with grilled flounder and fresh redfish!!
Good fishing, good food, and good friends.
Until next time

Did you use black drum for bait? Is that legal?
Otherwise, what an awesome report! _________________ Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.

| That's catching, not fishing.... with all that luck seems like one of you'd do the polar bear swim. |

Dink: the bite was on dead shrimp. Twizderods took a small bag of shrimp to catch whiting for bait, but ended up catching drum. The wade gut was where they where at. (To dang cold to cast from the first bar!) We did catch a couple on Fishbites, even though all I had was the "warm water" formula.
Big John: Like nate said, black drum are not a game fish, so you can use them as bait.
Guest: Thanks for the bait, we yakked them out as soon as we got set up. The water was a little cold for sharks but we tried.
Thanks guys
