|

Anyone have any experience with those E-Z Up 10x10 canopies at Academy? Are they really "E-Z Up"? Are they also "E-Z Down"? How do they hold up in the wind? Do they need to be staked? Weight?
I'd like one of those 10x20s like Skipper and Magic have, but that's a little too much weight and work for this old 50-something to wrestle without a helper. Plus, the truck bed is pretty much already full to the rails without another large package.

EZ-ups are really easy to use after using it once. I have three (one that is personal and two for work). 10x10's are perfect for an individual or family. Anything larger than that have a team ready to help put it up/down. Stakes help keep it down in windy conditions. I don't think bricks/cinderblocks/etc. is needed. Just make sure that you get one that the canopy snaps down onto the frame all around. I have one that is older that merely snaps down on the corners... so the sides tend to come up in very windy conditions.
Good luck! |

I have one that has been used on the beach for several years, now granted it has had to have a couple of repairs but under normal weather conditions it will do fine, and if it gets real windy keep it down low instead of extended up to max height. _________________

|

With any canopy at the beach, the best way to make sure it stays put is to dig a 2 foot deep hole, and tie your guide ropes to some 1' long wood stakes, then bury them in the sand and pack it down. Make sure to do all 4 corners this way, and your canopy should stay put, even if the wind comes up unexpectedly. Make sure the guide ropes are tight as well. If you just use the metal stakes that come with it, your canopy could end up being a kite in the wind! |

Since I've heard nothing but positive comments on them, I guess next time you see me unlaxing on the beach with a cold one, it'll be under an E-Z Up. Thanks for the feedback and the tips!

| Carl, do not get the white top! It's like sitting under a sauna since most of the light bleeds thru. The most comfortable ones to use are either dark green (best color for top) or dark blue, and it should have the UV filter layer on the underside (it looks like the fabric has an aluminumize finish to it). This blocks ALL sunlight and creates a very cool shade. I can't use my white EZ Up except during the winter, just too hot to sit under. -Zano |
