HI,
I have a question for the folks on this great message board. Do any of you have experience with Tica Reels? Either baitcasting or spinning. I am wondering how they compare to Calcuttas as it's time to replace a couple of my old aging Calcuttas and seeing how the dollar just doesn't seem to go as far as it used to I was looking for a less expensive alternative.
Thanks in advance for your help

I have a bigger TICA baitcaster but have only used it a couple of times. It seems OK, but haven't had it out enough to form an opinion. Sorry. I can tell you, though, it's not on the par of a Calcutta by any stretch.

I have a Tica baitcaster, and it's a good reel. I still prefer my Curado, but they both cast and retrieve well. I use the Tica for soaking bait while I'm throwing lures with something else, since the Tica has the clicker to let me know when the drag starts going out.

I agree....originally got the Tica on ebay for the express use with live bait and the clicker had a lot to do with it. It does seem to be fine - even with my limited experience with it. It's spooled with braid and big reds was my thinking for it's use.

i just recently bought 2 tica caiman reels and i love them. imho, they are just as silky smooth as calcuttas and i like the drag better on the tica. if only they would cast like the shimanos.

I've bought 2 of these reels off of EBay and I love them. And they are a great deal. I picked up one for $46 and the other for $55, a real bargain for this much quality
