Spent most of the time playing guide, relaxing, helping friends and kids catch fish. Caught my limit of reds in about an hour and spent much time trying new lures. Not sure what causes trout to school up on certain nights(moon phases)? It might explain why I caught fewer trout during the day.
Friday night -
trout thick under the lights and about an inch shy of slot size.
Saturday - avoided bad storms coming from gulf
Caught big Pompano at N. jetty, many whiting behind St. Joe, trout scattered, lost some big fish using 30lb shock leaders. Saturday night trout were thick under the lights again.
Sunday
Copano - slow fishing at several normally productive spots
Aransas - Carlos to Paul Mott area - many reds and trout caught by all
Sunday night - trout fishing very slow. |
