I thought I would give a report on the fishing at the south jetty. Me and three buddies of mine started out on the south jetty about 6 am on the 30th of march. Went to almost the end and fished the surf side. The tide was high in the am and we only caught a few fish. I did see a man with about a 30 inch spec he said he caught on a rattle trap. The tide changed a little after noon and the bite was on. There were 4 of us and we caught 11 slot reds and one tag. We also caught 12 sheepshead, all good size. We were fishing lemon rigs about 12 feet deep, alternating with straight bobber rigs about 6 feet deep, both on live shrimp. The action was fast and furious until about 4:30 pm. It seems we lost as many as we landed. I also hooked something, not sure what, that took me to the tip of the jetty and seemed to be headed for the carribean when it snapped my braided line. I just wanted one look, but not to be, never even turned the fish. Serious tide differential, catch it on the fall near the rocks. Good fishing fellas _________________ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. |

Yeah, I saw the whole thing too. Pretty sad, It's a good thing he's got buddies like that. Scary to think where he'd be without them. I guess God handed them the task cause' he knew they could handle it. (tough case, took three of em' though) _________________ "If you ain't fishin', or at least thinking about it,....yer wrong!" |

I dumped the second post as it sounded as if he was referring to the gentleman reporting on the 30th. He basically accused them of being rowdy drunks. Not that there aren't rowdy drunks who sometimes fish the jetties.
The guest replied "I saw you all there last Thursday." Thursday was the 31st. No need to slam the guy on the first post as he was not there last Thursday but last Wednesday.

Yeah nice. Me and bluffer were out there last year and had that happen 3 times. Never saw them as they made their way to cuba. _________________ Fishing and Kayaking its a rough life but somebody has to do it.

Hey Tyler, I confess, that second post was me. I was just poking fun at my buddy/co-worker "warhym". He wasn't behaving like I said at all. Guess that's what kinda made it funny(to us). He just had some frustration while the fish were biting. Sorry, if I was out of line. I was just trying to express that "warhym" has a little trouble with mechanical things(like fishin reels)..........just kiddin'

Turn the guy on to coastal fishing, show all the tricks I know, (limited) and then he takes pot shots at my fishing abilities. Yep, that's one of my bud's alright. Thanks for watching my back though Tyler, that's what makes this sight great. He caught the most fish on that trip I admit that, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while. _________________ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. |
