Longway...
I have heard rumours of the back lakes in the 40's to hold numerous blue crabs. I went there last summer and only saw two.
I have caught alot of those spotted crabs in the surf at night, but they are all on the small side. They're really only good for bait, but I have eaten some of the bigger ones and they taste good.
If you are in Port A., go to Wilson's Cut in the summer time. Or try anywhere off the highway from Aransas Pass to Port A. There are always an abundance of blues in those areas.

| It usually seems that I run across at least one plate size blue crab every other trip out there in the surf and the water is clear. Man those things think they are tough! Have had a couple actually run towards me a little, and not just go with the defensive posture. I don't know how you would catch those big ones in the surf, but if you did, most of them are pretty decent size. |
