Oso Marvelous, Oso Chevy, Oso 4reel and I hit the surf yesterday and due to no waves, we were able to get our baits way out there! We caught a few whittings and cut them up for bait. First Oso Chevy reels in a nice 26" blacktip, then it just slowed down long enough to BBQ. While I was enjoying my Fajita taco my reel starts to go off!! As I am running to the rod I am remembering that I waded out pretty far and threw this fat chunk of whitting out!! Shocked I knew it had to be a good size shark or red! The reel is steady peeling off line until I am able to get the rod out of the holder, then the line just goes slack! I'm thinking I either lost it or it's running straight in. I am reeling my a$$ off and still can't catch up with it until it finally stops running then the fight was on! I landed a nice 32" blacktip. That naughty sucker chewed my surf weight right off my line.
After that we continued to catch more blacktips! Oso Marvelous, Oso Chevy and myself all brought home a shark!

But the night wasn't over for us yet. The wives went home and Oso Chevy and I took the yak out to the Humble channel and hooked up with some nice keeper trout!

Oso Chevy caught 2 specs 16", 18.5" and I caught 8 specs 17"-20". Not to mention plenty of dinks.
A full day of fishing and it was awesome!!!

I may be mistaken, but aren't those sharks Sharpnose? The anal fin and the second dorsal are not lined up. and the have a light leading edge along the fins.

but nice catches anyhow! wow that surf looks nice..
