I hope I don't step on anyone's toes, but while refreshing what few brain cells I have left, I came across the section on catching rock crabs in the 2004-2005 TDPW Regulations.
It states that only the right claw can be removed if it is a minimum 2-1/2" measured from the tip of the claw to first joint behind the immovable claw and the remainder of the crab should be returned to the water from where it was taken.
I only bring this up as I read the posts as often as I can, and I remember seeing pictures with whole rockcrabs on the dinner table with a cold one to wash it down.
I would hate to see hard earned money go towards a fine instead a new rod, reel, lures etc.
If anyone knows different about this law, please let me know and I'll crawl back under the sand. |

Your right. Who ever had the whole crab is looking for a high dollar meal. One picer 2 1/2 inchs in length any thing else is big trouble. _________________ Fishing and Kayaking its a rough life but somebody has to do it.

I think you may be referring to this photo from Seabass. If you look closely you will see that there are blue crabs along with the stone crab claws. The stone crabs body itself is tiny in comparison and looks more like a tick.

Thankyou Tyler, that is one picture I do remember and I did reconize the blue crabs. It seems there was another picture or pictures with complete crabs. I may be mistaken and it may have been on one of the other local sites. I know I have seen people around redfish bay and other places keeping the whole crab.
Have a good one and continue your good reports. |

I just got fantastically hungry myself. LFAMOSO, I took a bite out of the main frame.
Paul, LFAMOSO, Tyler, Bluffer, others.... we'll have to fish soon. I don't speak much during fishing, so I won't bother 'ya. Hehehe.
