i'm headed down wednesday. can you fish the rocks yet or is it roped off for work?

As of Sunday, you can still sneak out onto the north jetty. They are laying granite on the south jetty right now and will run you off if you go near the south rocks. The water is brown near the rocks, but we have taken many many Redfish and Flounder from the wade gut north of the rocks in the last month. Also ran into a school of Trout 2 weeks ago just over the weedline on the N. rocks and caught at least 100 small 14" to 16" Trout. My brother in law had like 20 Trout hit a strawberry assassin until there was just a nub on the jighead. There was no bite this weekend but things change daily here.

as of thurs. couldnt but a bite on soft plastics, switched to using live crabs found around the rocks and picked up 3 reds, 2 were keepers.

i was meaning can you fish it by boat (the bay side)? the pics sure look good with all those rocks.

There is no flow between the Gulf and the Bay yet.
Suppose' you could fish up to the end of the channel but you'd basicly be fishing the backs of three parked barges.
Give it time.
On another note I surfed the north jettie Sun. morning and it was pretty big at the end of the rocks.There's an eddy at the tip of the rocks on the north side(in a northbound current) that made it an easy paddle and was alive with baitfish and small feeders.Pretty seaweedy' and stinky but that should pass.

IN RESPONSE TO ERICK. YES IT IS THATS WHY I ALWAYS HAVE MY GEAR NEVER KNOW WJHEN YOUR GOING TO BE DRIVING ALONG AND SEE THE BIRDS WORKING WITHIN WADING DISTANCE. I ALSO CAME TO VISIT IN 81 AND NEVER LEFT.
