The boat in the pics are made in Kema , Tx . it is call a Simmons Custom Boat or SCB. Used a drag boat hull design and rides on a cushion of air bubbles. With 300 merc will run about 90mph. Also runs shallow. Extremely dry and stable. Can run up and down the coast in no timejust have deep pockets.

To me a 90 mile an hour bay boat is not very practicial and depending on who is aiming it, at 90 mph you are not driving it you are aiming it, not very safe. Like a brother of mine once said a speed record does not count if you are not alive at the end of it. That said, I bet it would be a real rush to hit the go button on that boat.

That boat would be a blast to operate, but like Adrian said it makes me nervous thinking any idiot can buy one. Maybe SCB will require a short boater safety/ethics/education course with the purchase of one.

these fast boats are a neccesity today. with all the prizes and money offers from all the tourneys and of course the cca tourney you've got thouseands of new anglers fishing the saltwater now than ever before and the numbers will continue to grow. to be the first to the fishing spot you need a fast boat, you must evolve or erode. sad state of affairs but thats the way it is just drive down to the local boat ramp on a weekend and see a wild show of people who have no clue.

I have to strongly disagree with that statement. I just love pulling back to the ramp in my little skiff with a 25 horse and showing off my catch - usually better than the guys with the big boats with 200's on them. I spend 8 bucks on gas and catch twice the fish. I love it. Love the expression on their faces when I can barely lift my cooler out of the boat.
This go fast crap alright for tournaments, but I think some of the guys are trying to compensate for something. Big motor doesn't equal big fish.

I think it would be a blast to have one of those boats, but it realistically isn't close to necessary. The boat I would like to have would be stable, go fast enough to get out a ways in the gulf on calmer days, run the bays well enough, and still get good gas mileage.

Toyota needs to make a bay boat.... Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

When I fished fresh water, my favorite place was the same place as the guy in the turney. Except I would wait untill after he had left. Then slowly reel in a spinner bait where he was just at. It would bring in that large bass He thought was there. I had an old and small pan fish rig. I would just smile as I released that foul tasting fish. I was even told to get off the lake with that piece of s#$#%^ boat. I just smiled as I pulled them back to the boat dock.

Point is a big fast boat does not mean more fish.

Just my 2 cents

Cliff
