This may sound like a dumb question, but I have heard some bad stories of people losing their digital cameras to sand down on pins. What do y'all do to take care of your cameras while on the beach? I plan on staying out on pins for 3 days.
Obviously, I would only take out the camera to take pictures. I was thinking about keeping the camera in its own bag and then put the bag in the camera pouch. Any suggestions? Thank you. |

Just take it out to take the pics, and then put it back in the case and back in the truck and you'll have no problem. Had a buddy put his camera in his pocket once and later run into water to grab a bullred that had busted off in the wade gut. Believe me the warrenty company can tell if you cameras been in saltwater and they will not replace it.

I keep mine in a ziplock bag in the truck and only take it out for pics. I also ensure whoever is taking the pictures slips on the wrist strap so there are no accidents in the sand.
See ya on the sand,

| If you shop around you can find waterproof cases made for the camera. They are a bit pricey but worth the money.Ebay has a good selection. |

| I agree, Mine only comes out for the photo then back in the case and back in the truck. I wouldn't want to leave an accident up to chance. I would recomend the same for film cameras |

| I buy a disposable water proof camera at Wal-Mart and when I have the pix developed, I ask for a disc. Then you can use the disc on your computer, e-mail them, post them, etc. That way, if you drop the camera in the sand or water, no big deal. Pictures look great and no worry about an expensive camera on the beach. Have fun! |

I keep mine in one of them water-tight seal lock bags from Boaters World. Especially when in the kayak. _________________ Fish hard, fish the Bluff. Surrounded by water!

Down on pins we keep ours in zip-locked bags and only take it out to take pictures and then it goes right back in the bag and inside the vehicle. In the kayak it also goes in a 1 gallon water tight igloo water jug along with tape measure and walkie-talkie, fishing license, and keys so if you flip it the jug will float and everything stays dry. _________________ Hardheads should be the state fish of Texas |

That makes a lot of sense and is a good idea. I guess then you could tether the handle to the yak.
Man, have I got a lot to learn when I can fianlly get a yak! |

| Big John, that's a great idea. Everything is together, water proofed, and floating when necessary. Up to this point, we have just either tied stuff on or put in a baggy and hoped. Now, I have a plan . . . Thanks! |

Another thing to consider is the sea mist and high humidity. When you seal your camera up in a bag or case moisture will become a problem, be sure to put some of the silica gel packets that you find in pill bottles and the such to help reduce the chance of condensation. _________________ Gee...that's a swell fish you caught...can I have it for BAIT??? |

Don't thank me, see the post above mine. Someone else had that good idea. But I will use it - that idea sharing is what makes this board great! |
