I am so happy! I was out on the beach using fresh (dead) shrimp in hopes of catching a couple whiting to rig up for shark fishing. I had never caught a shark before and this was my first outing in which I have had the equipment to do so. And Lo and Behold, one of my bait rods hooks up on this shark!!!!
I have no idea what kind (species) this one is, nor if it was the pup's first meal. It is so tiny! Can anyone tell me what it is? Thanks in advance!

Congrats, CnF ... Atlantic Sharpnose, notice the offset on the second dorsal and anal fins. Even the little ones can give you a nice nip though, so watch those fingers ... I speak from experience.

Where did you catch him at? I don't recognize that beach structure.
You get em' on a 12/O ?

Hmm, pebbles on the beach, I bet its HI.
Intresting Pelican about the offset on the dorsal, I never knew how to tell the sharpnose. What about the sandies? What details to look for identafying them? |

To address your questions: I sent ya a PM.
I caught him on an Ugly Stik/Penn set-up with 12lb test....
Thank you for the ID, Pelican. Hopefully I'll be able to shark fish a lot this year, and get me a big ole Blacktip!
Right now I can name mabye 2 or 3 muscles in my lower back. Who knows what the doctor can prescribe for other lumbar muscles, after a hard day of sharking! LOL 
I sent photos of the pup to my parents and an Uncle. They laughed, and teased me about how I need someone to massage my sore shoulders. How one 11-12" shark can bring so much joy and laughter is amusing!
