They were cruising by today and large schools, but the predators weren't after them for some reason. There are also lots of big mullet out there too. I caught several that were around 20 inches long.
Shouldn't be long for all the fish to figure out that the mullet are there.

I can be reached at 361-884-8824 (work) or 361-813-9157 (cell) or 361-777-2910 (home).
Finger mullet, little jacks, dusky anchovies, skipjacks, whiting and big mullet all over the wade guts Saturday. Little in the way of anything eating them. _________________ Ahh sand between my toes! |

It's a long story about why I had to change the format posted on one of the stickies on the top of the forum.
Hope to see you down soon. I assume you have been busy working to save money for fishing toys.

Thanks all, I'm temporarily living with my sister and remodeling her new house, yard(cliff,LOL) and dock in Lakeway...just a short boatride to you guys, but one longa$$ drive by car. Set 3 live perch last night and came up with an 8# blue that tasted better than stingray. That's saying a little bit anyway. I could live off the fish here. Out of about 6 baits I've laid this month, I caught an 18" yellow(c&r), 4# bass(delicious), a 25-30# yellow, this blue, and lost a 400# mono rig tied to the dock. Musta been a 35#+ fish. I baited 3 hooks with the carcass of the blue so we'll see what's there tomorrow. The other 2 hooks from last night came up empty but I know they were taken because they were Rio Grande Perch, very tough and agressive fish. I didn't get down the hill to check the baits till 5pm so they probably ripped the hook out. Looks like these big cats have a week corner for circles. I guess I need to up from a 16/0 to a 20/0,....GONNA NEED A BIGGER BAIT! LOL!
Tyler, I read your sticky post after I made this thread, so sorry, I didn't mean to dis your new site. Looks like this weekend I'll be down PINS. Is anybody else headed that way? The swells from Ivan might be too much, but I've been gone too long so I'll be there he11 or high water. See y'all on the sand..............Kyle
Ps, Yankee, or others on the north side of Travis, do y'all play golf? I'm trying to get back into it and it's jut a short boat ride to lago Vista(or Point Venture), which has one of my favorite courses. Cheap, good, and always has a T time available due to the long distance from Austin.
Andrew and Flak, let's hook up these next couple a months for some prime finger mullet action. I'll be there, so let's rock! |

OH NO!!!
Surfrunner!! The weekend you want to go to the beach is the Surf Cats tournament. Are you entered in the tournament?
I wouldn't recommend going on that weekend. There is 600 entries this year. That is alot of people on the beach. I would try to avoid PINS.
Seems like you have tried to plan a trip there for a long time and you keep getting bumped around for one reason or another. Oh well, I guess that happens. _________________ -Skip |

Your right skipjack! I may move it again. Although I heard most of the surfcat entries stay north with the south still being fairly vacant. That does not make the driving easier though. Any suggestions wouold be appreciated though.
I planned the 15th then my wife informed me she has something going that weekend. My son isn't ready for a big PINS trip yet.
This is the third time this has been bumped!
I may wind up fishing the sharkathon even though I am not into tournies. I think they are doing a good thing with that.
Thanks for informing me about surfcats, since I was thinking it was the next weekend. |
