| Hit the south jetty Fri. 4/22.about 50 yds.down the jetty on the surf side at the edge of where all the weed is collecting noticed schools of small silver bait fish getting busted up from below.threw on a weedless silver spoon and caught about 12-15 fish in the 10"-15"range.I believe they were blue fish, but not sure.they were silver, roughscaled, toothy and took to the air when hooked.anyone familiar wth these fish? |

That sounds right especially the rough scales and the toothy. They are great if you smoke them.

| If they are small, about a pound, they are actually pretty good fried. After that, not so good. |

On the East Coast bluefish get much larger than they do in the Gulf, and are know for their agressiveness as well as ability to cut a leader a la Spanish Mackeral.

I'm pretty sure you were catching skipjack/ladyfish.
We've been catching them on about every other cast when we've fished that part of the south jetty lately. |
