1st chance to welcome in daylight fishing & golf time. Didn't get on the sand til 5, little late but a lot more light than a week ago. Surf has been 2-4 for 2 days, still not green, sandy green, I'm spoiled. Hasn't been clear green in a long long time it seems.
Tried 4 holes for trout with a catch 2000 but only 1 hit that I masterfully lost in no time. Whiting hit fish bites in the wade gut within 15-20 secs. Waded out with cut whiting to the 1st gut at the last trout hole. Big ray on before I could get back to the sand. 1 big ray, 2 hard heads and a decent red around 28 I guess that was released. Didn't see any bait or sharks. Won't be long, hopefully this spring & summer will be a lot better than last fall & winter.
This post has a point other than just a boring no fish report. Curious about your opinions?
I hate stingrays as much as the next guy probably, but is that a reason to kill them? I may get stuck one day, who knows. If I do it most likely will be my fault for not shuffling well enough. I'm no marine biologist but every creature seems to serve a purpose. If you are in a spot with a bunch of stingrays, !*$#@ move! Use them for shark bait, some folks eat them, or let them go. Don't throw them on the beach to bake & suffocate to death.
Sorry for gettin on a soap box. Stuff like this pisses me off more than campsites vacated of everything but their trash.
Rob

PINS is a wonderful place and it is ashamed some people don't realize what we have in our backyard. Personally I like catching rays because of the fight but always release them unharmed. PINS does draw its share of "idiots", like when you drive 30 miles down on a thursday and nobody is within 3 miles of you either way and then somebody comes and parks 50 yards from you and turns their dogs lose that run straight over to you. If I wanted to fish next to someone I wouldn't of drove 30 miles down the beach. _________________ Hardheads should be the state fish of Texas |

Definitely a terrible waste of our natural resources and also against the law. |

Ya,I agree with Rob. There are a lot of different speices of marine life out there. That is one reason why I love fish'n in salt water. You never know what you could catch! Rays,Hardhead,Dog fish,Puffer fish,Crabs ect... They are going to be around and sometimes on the end of our lines.
No need to trash 'em man!!! _________________ Live to fish.Fish to live! |

I agree 100%. Just because someone doesn't like the creature doesn't mean it deserves to die. I even feel the same way about hardheads. If these things weren't down there on the bottom vaccuming it up I'm sure the whole cycle of things would be turned upside down and there wouldn't even be anymore desireable fish around anymore. Stingrays and hardheads and whatever else is swimming or crawling around out there are crucial in the balance of the ocean. What a waste! Personnally, I think they are magnificent creatures. Some people pay huge amounts of money to go and swim with rays and you can even pet them at the aquarium but others just kill and maim them with no respect for God's creations. I agree, either use it or eat it, but please don't waste it.
Rob, thankyou so much for your post. I think the picture was a very good one to put out for all to see. The only way to help with things like this is through actions like the one you took. Way to go! |
