| What pound test line do you use in the bay? I use 10lb Trilene Big Game on my baitcaster and 14lb fireline equivalent to 6lb mono on the spinner. |

I used to use 8# or 12# P-Line. I switched to 30# PowerPro braid. I use all spinning gear now. _________________ GoinCoastal aka Cap'nSherbet |

I use 20 lb Super Mono Spider Wire in the bay. I can normally outcast anyone I am fishing with, and I know that monster speck isn't going to break me off (if I can ever manage to hook one )! _________________ Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.

| Really depends on what one is fishing for and whether he fishes with shrimp, popping cork or what ever. I wade fish the shallows mostly for Reds with a very light lure. I use 8lb. with a 15lb shock leader and a 25 lb leader on each lure tied with loop knots. Nine foot, nine weight, fly rod blank built into a casting rod. Scorpion Shamono reel from Japan. This is a system created by a great friend, Lin Turner, and it works. He builds the rods and is an excellent fisherman. If you are going to fish in the bay for a big drum with bait, all that is a different story. |

Dexter, "Mud Minnow" is your posting rank. You'll see that mine says "Horse Mullet".
On another site it says "Post-a-holic" under my name.
No one thinks you're "Mud Minnow". _________________ Chad Landry

I try to stay as light as possible.
Keep two rods with #8, one with #10 and a #15.
Depends on structure/vegitation in the area I'm fishing.
Oh yeah, All Berkley Big Game. _________________ "If you love something let it go.If it comes back to you gaff it and throw it in the icechest."

I use 20lb stren in the bays and surf with 50 lb leader, rarely ever have my line broke, I think you have to consider your reel, pole and line in the whole picture and be quick adjusting your drag when you need to. I like the 20 lb because you never know what you may hook where. _________________ Hardheads should be the state fish of Texas |

MasterGunner, you must be trying to hook that biggggggggg monster hardhead with 20lb line.
I use 8, 10, and 12 (Trilene) in the bays depending on the type of reel that I'll be using, wind and water conditions, etc. I'll be using fly line too in the summer in shallows. Something new for me. _________________ Live To Fish Tomorrow... Fish To Live Today
