Tyler, nothing beats a 12 lb line on a light tackle rod to challenge those big, bad Black Drums. Thanks for the FishBites info here and hope they continue to sponsor your web site. I can't scientifically say that it works because I haven't studied it enough, but the odds increase using them!

Man, no RedFish this weekend, but.... 8 oversized Black Drums: 5 BDs on Sat. and 3 BDs on Sun.

Shack up at the ImageShack.

Nice Pescas Mr. C, those bad boys sure are ugly. They are fun to catch on lite tackle. Keep up the good work man. Looks like the stuffed black drum will be posing for many a picture soon.

10-4 to that Tyler. That could definitely hook up some nice sport fish. Is that necklace, I presume it's a necklace - teeth of some sort?, home made vs. made by a business?

As far as Black Drums, man most of them are better looking at than some of us fishermen. Have you seen some of us on weekends fishing without a clean shave? Man, what a dingy looking group that we can get to be with bigger whiskers than some of the BDs. I don't mean the males, I mean the females... Hehehe. Laughing Kidding ladies. All of you are beautiful; I mean most of you out there. (Oh, will the lady with the mustache, please shave. Thank you. Wink )

Nope. Fishbites and dead shrimp. That's why I can't scientifically say that Fishbites alone work for the type of fishing that I do. I do know that it "appears" to signficantly increases the odds of catching fish. I do know that the white ones work well off the surf. It appears that whitings love them for sure. Any flavor?

Good luck fishing!

Great job Mr.C, those big uglies are TONS of fun on light tackle. Kind of like trying to pull a concrete truck off the bottom and not snap your little line.

Congrats

10-4 to that in "fighting" big BDs. Some are like pulling refrigerators over steps or like lifting significant other. Yup, it can break one's back. Laughing

The intracoastal channel definitely holds the Bigger ones. You just have to be willing to deal with the faster currents and sea grass strolling by. Clem's usually produces several big ones; however, you have to be very patient there. I've heard Marker 37 is starting to produce. But I don't know if they have benches and holes to set the rods there yet. Other than that, Marker 37 is a brand spanking new pier. Lit up like a runway. I think the Navy has set that as an alternate landing strip: WELL LIT. VERY NICE for the money spent in building it. $2/head + $1/rod. Not bad for occasional fishing there. CosWay and Red Dot by far has the best odds of catching big ones coming out of the Humble Channel. But, the piers are usually elbow to elbow. Oh, for the fair sportsman... we have to bite our lips hard for those other people who run with the 30" + BDs to the back of their vehicles. I guess they haven't heard about the recent TPW busts $$$. They should rather want to buy nice rod & reels instead of giving their money away. Wink

Good luck catching those big ones. I for one think that the BDs are cool and good looking - fighting fish. Hardheads and Dogfish are more ugly.

Ya M37 pier is excellent & room to spread out. Sure could use some rod holders though. And Id pay another dollar if benches were added.
Anyone listning over there? Come on Ernie.
