I have not seen the one Nick ties. But if it is called a mexican knot then it should be the same one.It is one of the best knots, just takes some practice to get right. It is often called a San Diego knot on the west coast. I do not have a link to it, wish I did.
Here is a link to a few more knots. The shocker knot is what most here have described. It works good. Another good one is the Yucatan knot. It is about as small of a knot as you can get. When tied right works very good. I just found it a few years ago and need practice tieing it. There are thousands of knots, it just depends on what you like to tie. I like stren knot because it was knots I already knew how to tie. Any of these knots will work, most will hold above the breaking strengh of the main line. So it is just personal prefence as to what knot does the best job.

Mapag,
The knot works on every different combination that I have tried. Larger to smaller, smaller to larger, & all the different braid combonations. The one thing I never tried it on is braid to braid. The knot is a little bulky, but my stiffy spinning & casting rods have never had a problem with it. |

When I tie similar line diameters together I use a uni to uni knot. Be it braid to mono or mono to mono it works excellent for me. Just clip the tag ends neatly.
When I tie heavy mono to a swivel I'll do a spider hitch and then tie an offshore swivel knot to my coastlock swivel. If it's good enough for offshore fisherman....it's good enough for me.

I have used them all, they all work well as long as they are tied properly.
Here is one Version of the Mexican Knot
Here is a link with instructions on the "Alberto Knot" basically a modified albright. That is the one that Nick uses now and is also known as the Mexican Knot. I believe he only uses four wraps though. It works very well too.

While were on the subject, here is one knot that belongs in everyones arsenal.
Good Luck |

| Thanks for the pic Torpedo. That is the mexican knot as I know it. Very good knot, but it does not show one key part. Whatever you are tieing to must be pulled tight when tieing the knot, hard to tie with one end slack. That was the reason I do not use that knot as much anymore.I am sure with more practice it can be tied when slack. I found it to hard to tie when out of a boat wading, or in a kayak. I stick to very simple knots. The Palomar knot works for anything and is strong, easy to tie, and fast. The Stren knot, again easy to tie and strong. |

| The triple surgeons knot is the way to go when attaching running line to leader. It is simple and it works great. All those other knots need tiers manuals to go with them. I have used it to join 30# braided line to 50# mono with no problem. My usual set up is 30# power pro to 20# or 30# flourocarbon. Keep it simple. You don't need to tie the Meskin knot or the Italian, Pollock, or Afgany knot ect... if you can tie an overhand knot you can tie the triple surgeon. |

Double uni for line to line
Palomar for terminal tackle.......... The palomar is the strongest I have found and it takes all of 10 seconds to tie it. And it is the recommended knot for Power pro spectra braid. _________________ GoinCoastal aka Cap'nSherbet |
