I had the week off of work and checked the weather forecast, it looked like Monday and Tuesday would be the best days to fish, so my daughter Amber and I headed down to PINS early Monday morning.

After all the necessary stops, we hit the sand about 630am. As Amber caught up on some sleep, I got the rods ready and we headed south in search of Amber’s first Redfish. We arrived at the 19mm and decided to give it a try. Water was green and the bars were visible, we were able to locate a deep first gut at low tide.

Amber was the first to hook up with a nice 25.5” Black Drum, would be the first of many this trip.

After several Black Drum for the both of us, we had a double hookup, Amber with her first ever Redfish (24.5”) and me with a nice Drum (26.5”). Tarzan drove up as we were reeling them in and was gracious enough to snap a picture for us. Great to see you again Tarzan and thanks for the pictures.

After some nonstop action of Drum, I was able to land a nice 27” Red.

After 11 Black Drum, 2 nice Reds and numerous Whiting we decided to head south in search of some high dry land, the tide was coming up fast and was extremely high the previous night. Just as we were packing up, Bill and Charles drove up heading North and reported not much happening south. We decided to put the rods out again and help put something in their chest. Soon after the rods went out, Charles lands a nice Black Drum.

After a few pictures and finishing packing up, we said goodbye and headed South. Great meeting you guys.

We stopped at the 41mm and managed only a few Whiting, we decided to make camp and head north again in the morning.

Headed north at first light and what a day on the beach. The water was blue as were the skies. We stopped at the 21 and Amber hooked up with her biggest Black Drum (27.5) of the trip.

The bite slowed and we moved down to the 19, I was able to land our smallest Black Drum (18”) and we managed a few more monster Whiting for the box.

Amber taking a break before we head back to San Antonio.

This was definitely a great trip with my daughter; we ended up with a total of 13 Black Drum (18" to 27.5", all released), 2 Reds and 10 large Whiting in the cooler. Amber managed a few first's on this trip and I’m sure it won’t be her last, she is a true fisherwoman.

See ya on the sand,

Driving was great at low tide, with the extreme high tide the high road was soft and full of debris. Everything was caught on dead shrimp with the exception of one red which was caught on cut whiting.
