Ok I'm looking at getting a kayak. I'm down to the Heritage redfish or the Perception caster 12.5. What if any are the opinions out there? _________________ Broken or not fix it!

You should consider several factors....
1. What kind of kayak fishing do want to do?
2. How much gear do want to take?
3. Your size
4. do want speed or stability?
5. How far do you want to paddle at time?
When you get ready to buy a kayak, you need to really think about how and where you are going to use it. You need to think about your comfort and how you would rig the boat to meet your needs.
So my question is why have you chosen those 2 kayaks? If you can tell us that we can give you a better answer.
I prefer the Wilderness Systems Ride & Tarpons. I also like the OK Prowler but I can;t paddle one for very long. The molded foot wells dig into my calves and becomes very uncomfortable. The Malibu Xtreme is nice too. I like the layout of the Caster. I have not paddled one tho. I strongly suggest paddling any boat before you purchase. _________________ GoinCoastal aka Cap'nSherbet |

If you're looking to get there fast, go with Heritage. Avoid the Redfish and go with the Heritage Fisherman. The hull design is different (the Redfish is the newer model and not very impressive) and the Heritage Fisherman is better. Like Joe and the others said, test a few different makes/models before you buy. Your size has a lot to do with the yak you should buy. I've paddled a Fisherman for a couple of years now. _________________ B-Bill
