I saw a couple of these on the beach a few weeks ago and thought they would make the perfect camping unit for those of us who like to run the beach fishing from spot to spot without having to take the time to setup and take down the more traditional campsite with tent etc. For many of us who like to camp on the beaches on the National Seashore, Matagorda, and High Island etc. this looks like it could be the way to go. Let me know if you have one.

Tyler,

I have the single cot as shown. My dad is the one who gets to sleep in it. A sleeping bag keeps him warm and comfortable while my brother and I struggle in the truck. So far no problems. It sets up easy and tear down is quick. The carrying case tore the first go around, but the vendor replaced - no problem. I believe these were developed for the Army. All I do is brush clean and tend to the bolts with some lubricant, but no rust problems to speak of. I believe the frame is aluminum. The black paint has come off in some places, but can be repainted. It comes with a rain fly. I haven't used it in the rain so can't offer anything on water resistance and keeping dry. It's really good for the quick set up and tear down in the mornings.

Tyler,
Billism's brother Doug sells them, and there have been extensive reviews of their performance on some of the pther boards. All comments have been very positive. The double deluxe is on my wish list for this Christmas.
Merry Christmas to all!

I have the Oversized single in route right now. It is longer and wider than the single. I will let you know what I think after I try it out.

I have the oversized Tent Cot and its quite roomy. Its really easy to set up and take down, only takes a couple of minutes. It has "no see um" mesh under the window flaps on all four sides. You can easily control airflow and ventilation. Its pretty sturdy and comfortable. It is a bit bulky to carry around but thats not a problem. I actually look foward to sleeping in it and have overslept due to being so darn comfortable in it. It has multiple storage pockets on the inside with plenty of room for personal items.

Best of all, I like the ease in set up and takedown-all you have to do is pull it out of the case, open it on its side, snap two straps together and put it right side up and its ready to go. Sure saves a lot of time.

I ordered mine from Tentcot.com using their online order page. They called the following day. I called them back and the staff there was quite friendly and helpful, had all my information ready, they gave me a good deal and it arrived when they said it would. This is a really great item and I highly recommend it.

Do you ever have any condensation problems with them? I have a 9X9 dome tent and keep the windows zipped half way down and the walls of the tent have condenstaion on the inside when I wake up in the morning.

In general condensation has not been a problem but outside temperature also is a factor and with the unusually high temps recently it has not been cold enough to give it a full test.

With the 4 doors and their screen windows it is very easy to vent the inside and keep the conditions for condensation to a minimum.

After reading the posts on this board and TKF's board, this is definitely my next purchase. I like the size and the fact that you're off the ground. It will sure be more comfortable than the truck seat.

the tent cot rocks! Although you had better be in some sort of breeze during the summer or you will definately lose a few pounds of water. I have found mine to be very comfortable with the exception of the heat they retain while you are in it. Great for winter-sucks in the summer. I recommend buying a nice thick pad to put in it as well.

Last weekend my Step Sister and Step Bro-in-law were staying on the beach with us.

I was layed across the front seat of my dodge, while they are in a tent.

On Sunday, the South Wind kicked up to high gear (as you all know), and the sand was blowing so hard that it was penetrating the tent, and pooling up on the inside. I assume this was happening only in the screen areas...but I wanted to know if the Tent Cots hold the sand out?

I assume that they will, as long as you keep the screens shut..right?

These things are invaluable for the beach, and I was very jealous of Curmit last time I was down there with them. He had the best seat/bed on the beach.

Thanks
Shawn

Hey Shawn-I forgot to shut my flaps on the tent cot and got filled up. Good thing is all you have to do is turn it on its side and shake it out.
