Teens Arrested In Killing Of Sharks At Aquarium
POSTED: 10:11 am EST November 10, 2004
LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Four young teens have been arrested after the torture and killing of two sharks and a ray at a California aquarium.
Vandals broke into the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach Sunday night. When aquarium staff arrived Monday, they found debris in the shark tank and the cow-nose ray on the concrete pool deck.
A two-foot-long, striped bamboo shark was found dead in a bird exhibit and a three-foot-long nurse shark was found in the bushes. They had been stabbed or poked with plastic pipes.
An aquarium spokeswoman says the staff was "all very sickened" by what happened.
Police say three 13-year-olds and one 14-year-old were arrested while trying to break into the aquarium a second time Monday night. They're being held on suspicion of animal cruelty and trespassing.

| [i]A la[i] Gilbert & Sullivan, I hope the judge lets the 4 culprits work off the costs by serving staggered graveyard shift tours of duty guarding the aquarium for a few weeks. At 2 hours per individual, that should protect the place for a total of eight hours every night. They can bring their homework to keep them company. |

I don't know. In California they'll give you a slap on the wrist for armed robbery, but they'll give you the death penalty for wearing a fur coat. _________________ Chad Landry

| How about marinating them in chicken blood, and then throwing them in with some sharks that can defend themselves. I am not a tree hugger, but that was a crumby thing to do. I could understand seagulls, being that they are annoying, but breaking into a place and killing caged animals, thats wrong. Standing guard duty is too easy (good idea if they just teased the animals) They should have to do something a little harder or scarier to learn a lesson. |

Ah, that's too harsh to do to little kids that probably didn't have the guts to do what they did w/o peer pressure. Being alone in that aquarium at night ought to be frightening enough.
However, substitute pig's blood for chicken's in your recipe and get ready for when we catch Osama. |

I would wish for a Conservationist Shark Judge. Perhaps the Judge will think up an astounding punishment. Personally I do not think One can teach such little SHITS like that anything. Send em to the torture chamber.
Someone needs to take them fishing. A Shark fishing "catch and release" should teach them a lesson, camped out on PINS the coldest, most windy days of the year. You think I'd be a good Judge? Parents just arn't doing their job. |

your damn right parents aren't doing their job. If I had snuck out at night never mind breaking into anythink, I'd have to stand all day and sleep on my stomack at night. spending time with your kidds and teaching the right from wrong. spare the rod (pun intended) and spoil the child _________________ even a bad day of fishing beats a great day at work |
