I was flyfishing around MP 15-20 looking for Jacks . Saw a couple in the second gut about 9:30 but they ran past me before I got a good cast. Did catch a nice trout and a couple of decent sized skipjacks--but never saw any Reds or anymore Jacks in the clear water. It was a great day to try the surf with a flyrod. Wondered if maybe I should have gone further south.

That was my report on Extreme Coast.

The jacks were in close, darting all around us...but couldn't get any hookups.

I've hooked a jack in the bay before on a finger mullet, on accident, and lost him. Other then that, I've never tangled with them and didn't know the first thing about how to get them to hit.

We were in the low 30's on PINS, at sun-up on 11/6

What could I have done different to get a hook up?

We camped at around 7 miles on Matagorda Fri-Sun and saw some bust the water around the second gut.
