I arrived here at Capt. Black's place at Baffin last night with hopes that we would be able to fish Rockport area tomorrow. The drive down from S.A. showed bad weather heading down with me. I saw my first bobcat on the way down...it was bloated on the side of IH 37 near highway 99.

We ate the usual last nite, ribeyes, salad, baked tater and grilled veggies. That might have been the highlight of my trip, lol. During the night, the shizzle hit the fizzle, and it was raining, lightning, thundering, and I think I heard a bark and few meows on the roof.

Woke up this morning to some HOWLING winds. Definitely a no-go for Rockport. We talked about maybe heading out to some close spots in Baffin. I went out to the pier at the Seawind RV park at 10:00 a.m. Had to walk at an angle to avoid being blown off the pier. I threw a fishbite out there for about 30 minutes and decided to head back in. You know its bad when you are doing Extreme Pier Fishing...heh heh. I didn't get a bite.

Right now, the sun is shining, but the wind is at a steady rip. Doesn't look like we're going to be on the water at all today. Guess we'll stay indoors and watch all the election coverage.

But Captain Black's Ribeye's, taters, and roasted corn made the trip for me. We sat around and chewed the fat while watching the final game of the Red Sox vs Cards series.
Say hey to Aubrey and Captain Danny for me.

Mmmm....fried oysters sound goooooood. We wound up eating Mexican food for dinner, then wound out the trip at Walmart.

This afternoon, the winds died down to a mere 20-25mph, so I went back out on the bay at a little cut out where I could park my truck and fish from the bank. Left a line out there with Crab Fishbites, but got no takers. Was a decent trip though, as I got to stay out of the wind in the cab of my truck while reading Aubrey's Gulf of Mexico Fish ID book. I finally got to put a name to a couple of critters I saw in Cedar Bayou a couple of years ago. I had caught a lookdown in my castnet, and saw a sargassumfish while flounder gigging. Cool looking fish!

Winds are supposed to lay down somewhat tomorrow, so we may try the bay in the morning.

Hey Tyler, do you think we need more cow bell?

Went out again tonite for a hopeful late black drum. Not a bite. But I did see a cool shooting star, watched the moon come up, and caught a stone crab about half the size of a penny. Cute little guy. His right claw was disproportionately big.

The wind has died down to 15-20mph, and I saw alot of bait in the water while out fishing.

We're still up watching the election coverage in Baffin. Hope to get after the big trout tomorrow morning.
