NEVER CAUGHT A RED WITH STRANGE STOMACH CONTENTS BUT DID CATCH A RED THAT WAS STUCK IN A PLASTIC SIX PACK HOLDER, IN FACT HE HAD ALREADY STARTED TO GROW AROUND IT AS IT WAS STARTING TO CUT INTO HIM. HE WAS CAUGHT IN THE SURF. AND WAS NOT OF KEEPER SIZE. PLASTIC WAS CUT AND REMOVED, HE BLED BUT DID SWIM AWAY. HOPE HE DIDNT TURN INTO SHARK BAIT.

I caught a red once that had tried to pass a circle hook. The shaft was hanging out of the vent but the hook was protruding through the body just behind the vent from the inside out.

It goes to show how tough those reds are. That the chances of a red's survival from a swallowed hook are great. I used think they were going to die.
