Fished again in my honey hole this past weekend. We were able to catch some good fish again right before the front blew in Fri. evening. We have been fishing a sand flat which drops off to mud, sand and grass. Berkley Gulp under a Mauler was again the ticket. Largest Trout went 26-1/2" 6.1 pounds two others were in the 5 to 6 puond range.

| Nice Trout! I really like the set-up you used and I personally use it all the time, especially around the Baffin rocks. It will actually create a bite on slack days. I prefer the Cajun Thunder with Assassins. |

| Need pro advice...on the rig you describe, do you use a jig head, split shot for weight, or nothing at all but hook and plastic under the float? Thanks for the help. |

| I have been using a 1/8 or 1/16 ounce screwlock jighead with maybe a 24" or so floracarbon drop under the mauler. |

The Gulp baits under a rattling cork of any sort are deadly. Since the Gulp baits have come out I have really had good catches on them. at 6 bucks a bag they better work. You could actually buy live shrimp and save money as the Gulps never last long when your in the fish. I have caught hardheads, reds, black drum and even a stingray on the things. Trout love them. The company has a eel style bait similar to a bass asassian but the colors need improvement. Also the exude baits work well and they are similar in texture and scent. If you dont change with the times and buy these baits I can respect that. If you are a serious tournament fisherman you might be see these baits outfish most. _________________ J.D |

Bayslammer,
Thanks for the insight on the Gulp baits. The price has always kept me from giving them a try, but I think you have convinced one hard headed angler. What color and bait style in the Gulp do you prefer? I've had my best catches on glow/chartreuse assasins in Baffin. Good luck this year with ole yellow mouth! |
