Just wondering if anyone can tell me the easiest way in & out of 9 Mile Hole. I've heard that there is a mandatory no prop zone out there, and I don't want to tear things up. As well, someone told me to run the east shoreline. Is this true?
Finally, I'm running a 19' Pathfinder with no jack plate. Is it even possible for me to run around out there?
Thanks!!! |

| You can get to 9-mile hole through the third ( I think) cut south of Baffin once in the land cut. When you enter, the no-prop zone is on the left...you'll see the signs. You can run a boat to the areas right of the channel. The last time I was there was in a Majek RFL. Water was about 1.5-2 feet deep. |

Click on this TPWD link that shows where the mandatory Prop-Up Zones are located. As for fishing in the Hole, its been good lately but make sure there is plenty of water in there before you go. The tides are a little low right now and I wouldn't recommend you go in there with the boat you described. Reds and trout are hitting on 1/2 oz. weedless gold spoons. Be prepared to put up with a lot of floating grass. Hope this helps. Later, Aubrey

Sorry for the different screen name. I couldn't remember my sign-on when I stuck this post on here.
Thanks for the good info!
I went down there on Sunday, but opted to keep out of the hole. Instead, I drifted the flats at the mouth of the land cut (west side). Did pretty well with live shrimp, but that's about all that I could get a hit on. Had 10 fish in the box after about 2 hours.
Tell ya what, though. If hardheads were a game fish, I would have probably set the state record (both for the largest, and biggest stringer)!
Thanks again,
Jeff |
