My son and I are most likely heading to the coast Saturday. We generally fish around Port A/Mustang Island and have a 2wd. The tide charts say they’re will be an incoming tide all day Saturday. We usually go to the Jetties but would like to try somewhere different …could anyone offer a few suggestions for a day-trip?
Thanks… |

Don't have a yak....yet.
As far as gear, I have both long rods/reels for the surf and light action rods for playing. |

Try farther south down the beach, you have the fish-pass jetties which can be good. Farther south is Bob Hall pier. Also to your west there is massive flats to wade fish in. Pick any of the various rds running off of hwy 361, Just remember to shuffle your feet as you wade so you wont step on a stingray.
Get a topspot map of the area(Academy) & it lists all kinds of places to fish were your talking about. _________________ Fish hard, fish the Bluff. Surrounded by water!

You might want to take a look at the weather before you leave. There is
a pretty strong cold front due in late Friday or early Sat. |

Saturday looks miserable and Sunday looks a bit better!
Expires 3:45 AM CST on February 10, 2006
Statement as of 3:40 PM CST on February 09, 2006
... The strongest cold front of the season will move through south
Texas Friday afternoon and evening...
Winter-like temperatures for south Texas are expected this
weekend. A strong cold front will move through south Texas late
Friday afternoon. Strong north winds of 20 to 30 mph with higher
gusts are expected behind the front. Temperatures Saturday morning
will range from the mid to upper 30s over the northern sections
to the lower 40s over the southern areas. Highs Saturday are only
expected to reach the mid 50s area-wide.
Arctic high pressure will settle across south Texas Saturday
night and Sunday morning. This will produce the coldest
temperatures in more than a year across many locations of south
Texas. Most of the inland locations will drop to the upper 20s to
around 32 degrees. Isolated pockets mainly to the north of an
Encinal to Beeville to Victoria line will drop down briefly to the
lower to middle 20s Sunday morning. These temperatures will
produce a hard freeze for many locations across south
Texas... especially across the northern half of the coastal Bend
and Rio Grande plains. Residents across south Texas should prepare
now for these very cold temperatures. Preparations such as
protecting tender vegetation and exposed pipes should be
considered.
Please stay tuned for later statements... advisories and warnings
on this upcoming significant weather event. |
