February 13, 2006. SPECIAL Coastal Issues Forum with Dr. Rita Colwell. Dr. Colwell's research interests focus on global infectious diseases, water, and health. She is currently developing an international network to address emerging infectious diseases and water issues. Dr. Colwell is Chairman, Canon US Life Sciences, Inc., Distinguished Professor, University of Maryland College Park, and Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. She served as the 11th Director of the National Science Foundation, 1998-2004, when she Co-chaired the Committee on Science of the National Science and Technology Council. (Thanks to the Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program and the Harte Research Institute for their assistance with this Forum.)
