| Ghost crabs are a bit soft and will tend to sling off a hook when you cast. Try fiddler crabs, instead. Fiddlers, although smaller, are tougher and often found in herds. Best way to catch either is with a light at night. Locate a colony of fiddlers by daylight, then return at night with a wisk broom and dust pan. You can literally sweep up a coffee can-full in no time. Any you don't use immediately can be kept alive for days in damp sand (NOT water; they can drown). Fiddlers are the best bait around for sheepshead, which should be bitng well about now. |
