I have not posted much here in the last few years, mainly just read and learn. I love fishing, hunting , camping, etc. I mainly love our beaches, it gives me/wife a chance to have one on one time with our kids(2-boys7 and9). Granted we aare not the hardcore fisherman type as of late, we do ENJOY camping on the beach. I mean falling asleep and waking up hearing the waves is awesome. Spending the day on the LAST least unregulated campground in America is nothing short of awesome! By that I mean the kids can be kids, they can yell, run, play, fish all with in our sight and typically we(parents) do not have to worry about them offending someone like in KOA and other campgrounds. Perhaps this community and city are over looking the real money making venue that Padre Island offers. Keep it simple and people will come, all kinds of folks will have good time and spend$ here. Thats the awsome beauty that Padre island holds. I mean they spend millions to attract folks to a desert for a reason! We do not have to do that here, we have nature and the simplicity of it to promote and sell. Plus we dont have maintain the machines to jack the customers out of $$. They will spend the $ to enjoy the atmosphere only WE have to offer, drive up on the beach with your camper, or camping accesories, setup and enjoy life on the beach. That in itself is a very valuable option to promote in this day and time.Simplicity and Hospitality can go a long way with the right publicity. I can tell you this, I have been on the west coast and the east coast beaches...... We beat them hands down because we do not over regulate.....seemingly that will change though.

Txslowpoke,
Well written and I agree with your observations. I have friends moving to the CC area from Midland TX next month and the main attraction for them is PINS. They also have kids and the topic of conversation, when we talk long distance, is gearing up for family weekends on the beach. My father took us to Big Shell in the 1970's and I've been in love with the area ever since. I just hope the next generation will have the same opportunity to experience this awesome gift of Mother Nature.....PINS. |
