UPDATE on EPA SUPERFUND SITES

BRINE SERVICES (78409) & FALCON REFINERY (78362)

Terrance Smith, Senior Project Scientist, Naismith Engineering.

Terrance Smith, the Coastal Bend Bays Foundation's Technical Advisor for the EPA Technical Assistance Grant, will provide an overview of the information he has gathered, and how the public can interpret this information. His presentation is an important step in helping our community become more involved in the Superfund process for the Brine Services Company Superfund site, which is located northeast of the intersection of IH-37 and Goldston Road. The "Review of Site Background Documents For Brine Service Company Superfund Site” can be read and/or downloaded at www.baysfoundation.org.

An update will also be provided for the second area Superfund Site, Falcon Refinery, located near Ingleside, Texas close to the intersection of FM 2725 and Bishop Road. From the 10/31/05 Site Status Summary, available at www.baysfoundation.org, "The site is located in the San Antonio-Nueces coastal Basin adjacent to Redfish Bay, which connects Corpus Christi Bay to the Gulf of Mexico. Surface water draining from the Site enters the wetlands along the southeastern section of the abandoned refinery."
